Health Reminder: Measles Preparedness Guidance from Department of Health

Posted Date: 03/20/26 (09:41 AM)

Dear Moses Lake School District Families,

We are sharing a follow-up health update as part of our continued commitment to keeping our schools safe, informed, and prepared.

The Grant County Health District has notified school districts that measles cases are increasing in parts of Washington state. This message is being shared as a precaution and to reinforce awareness.

Measles is a highly contagious illness, and public health officials continue to emphasize simple, effective prevention steps:

  • Keep students home when they are sick
  • Stay up to date on recommended immunizations
  • Notify your school if your child is diagnosed with a contagious illness that could impact others
If a measles case were identified in a school setting, Grant County Health District would lead the public health response. This would include guidance on communication, any necessary exclusions, and when it is safe for students to return to school. The district would support this process and share timely updates with families as directed by public health officials.

Families with questions about measles or immunizations are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider or refer to guidance from Grant County Health District.

We appreciate your partnership in helping maintain a healthy learning environment for all students.
